3tbspbutter(substitute with Earth Balance to make it vegan)
1/3c+ 1 tbsp brown sugar
1tbspcornstarch
1/2cupwater
1/2tspcinnamon
1tbsplemon juice
Crumble Topping
1.5cupflour
1.5sticks of melted butter(substitute with Earth Balance to make it vegan)
3/4cupbrown sugar
1tspcinnamon
To Serve
large scoopvanilla ice cream
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
To make the filling, start by chopping up your honeycrisp apples. In a small pot, melt your butter. Add the apples, brown sugar, lemon juice, and cinnamon.
Stir well, and cook the mixture for about 1 minute.
Create a cornstarch slurry by combining the water and cornstarch. Add it to the pot. Simmer the mixture for about 5 minutes until the apples slightly soften, and the brown sugar sauce thickens.
To make the crumble topping, mix all purpose flour, cinnamon, and brown sugar in a bowl. Add the melted butter and mix everything gently by hand. The mixture should start to form crumbles.
Add your apple mixture to a baking dish, and evenly sprinkle the crumble topping on top.
Cook your apple crumble at 350 degrees for 30-40 mins. The top of the crumble should start to crisp and brown.
Serve with a large scoop of vanilla ice cream and enjoy!
Notes
Note: If you find that your apple crumble topping is browning too quickly, cover it with foil for the remaining cook time.
