How Do You Roast Your Potatoes To Make Them So Crispy?
There are so many wonderful ways to cook potatoes, and my favorite is roasting in the oven! This technique is fairly simple, requires less oil than deep frying, and gives you an incredibly crunch outer layer! I like to roast my potatoes in the oven at 400 degrees, and add about a cup of oil to the bottom of my baking dish. This will crisp up your potatoes amazingly well without needing to use a deep fryer!
What Do You Seasoned Crispy Roasted Potatoes With?
My favorite way to season oven roasted potatoes is to cover them with a gentle sprinkling of Old Bay! It’s the perfect well-balanced potato seasoning which includes spices like celery salt, paprika, bay leaves, mustard powder, ginger, and more!
Crispy Oven Roasted Potatoes – Ingredient Breakdown:
If you want to make the best crispy oven roasted potatoes, make sure you have the following ingredients:
- Russet potatoes
- Canola oil
- Old bay seasoning
- Maple syrup
- Sriracha
- Garlic powder
How to Make Crispy Oven Roasted Potatoes
- Firstly, preheat your oven to 400 degrees.
- To make the roasted potatoes, start by peeling your russet potatoes. Cut them in half lengthwise and then quarter each half.
- Add your potatoes to salted boiling water, and then boil for 15 minutes until the potatoes are fork tender.
- Drain the potatoes, place them back into the pot, and then gently shake the pot back and forth so the outside of the potatoes are “roughed up.” The uneven edges will create a delicious texture for our potatoes.
- Place the potatoes evenly over a large deep baking tray. Pour your oil on top of the potatoes and gently shake to coat evenly.
- Roast the potatoes in the oven for 30 minutes and then flip them with a spatula. Repeat this process two more times until the potatoes are a deep golden brown and crispy on all sides. For the last flip, you may cut the cooking time slightly short (20-25 minutes instead of 30) depending on how your potatoes are browning.
- Remove the potatoes from the baking sheet and sprinkle evenly with old bay, shaking the potatoes to coat them evenly in the seasoning.
- Optional: To make the maple sriracha glaze, combine maple syrup, sriracha, and garlic powder in a small bowl. Pour the glaze on top of the potatoes right before serving, and coat evenly, OR serve on the side as an dipping sauce.=–po

Yes, but this recipe and method would need to be adapted. I would recommend the following changes: (1) boil your potatoes for 12 minutes instead of 15, (2) coat the potatoes in 4 tbsp of oil instead of adding 1 cup of oil to the air fryer, and (3) cook for a total of about 25 minutes shaking every 7-10 minutes or so to ensure even cooking.
